This policy covers IronLog, the iPhone app, and this website, ironlog.parra.io. Both are made by Parra ("we", "us"). It describes what the app and the site collect, where that information goes, and the choices you have.
The short version
- Your equipment records stay on your iPhone. IronLog has no accounts, and we run no server that stores your records.
- If the app crashes, a crash report goes to Firebase Crashlytics, a Google service, so we can fix the bug. Crash reports do not contain your records.
- If you send us feedback, we receive what you send.
- There are no ads, no analytics or advertising SDKs, and no tracking. We do not sell or share personal information.
1. Records you keep in the app
Everything you enter in IronLog is stored in the app's storage on your iPhone. That includes the details of each machine (such as its name, make, model, year, serial number or PIN, registration, title and insurance details, and notes), its engines and hour readings, maintenance tasks, service records (dates, hours, costs, parts, who did the work, location and notes), the photos and documents you attach, and your settings.
We cannot see or access any of it. IronLog does not upload it, and it does not sync it to iCloud in this version. Your iPhone's own backups (iCloud Backup or a backup to a computer) include app data according to your device settings; Apple's privacy policy covers those backups. Backup files you create with Export data, and service history PDFs you export, go only where you choose to send them.
2. Crash reports (Firebase Crashlytics)
IronLog includes the Firebase Crashlytics SDK from Google. If the app crashes, Crashlytics sends a crash report to Google the next time the app runs. A few errors the app recovers from, such as a failure to save or to open its storage, are reported the same way, with a short technical label of where they happened. A report contains:
- the stack trace and the time of the crash;
- the app's version and build number;
- the iOS version, device model, CPU architecture, free memory and disk space, and whether the device is jailbroken;
- random identifiers created for the app on your device (a Crashlytics installation UUID and a Firebase installation ID), which let us count how many devices a crash affects.
Google also receives the IP address the report is sent from, as part of the internet connection. IronLog does not add your equipment records, notes, photos, name or email address to crash reports. We use crash reports only to find and fix bugs. They are not linked to your identity and are not used for advertising or tracking. Google keeps crash data for 90 days. See Privacy and Security in Firebase.
3. Feedback you send us
You can contact us from the app (Settings, then Send Feedback) or with the form on our support page.
- From the app we receive the topic you choose, your message, your email address if you enter one, and, added automatically so we can reproduce problems: the app version and build number, your iOS version, your device model identifier (for example "iPhone16,1") and your language and region setting.
- From the website form we receive the topic, your message and your email address.
Feedback is sent over an encrypted connection to our server at ironlog.parra.io, which passes it to RevenueHog, the feedback system Parra operates, where we read it. We use it only to reply to you, fix problems and improve IronLog, and we keep it until it is no longer needed or you ask us to delete it. It is never linked to your equipment records, which we do not have.
4. Purchases
Subscriptions are sold and billed by Apple. We never receive your payment details, your name or your Apple ID. The app asks Apple, on your device, whether you have an active subscription, and does not send that answer to us.
5. Permissions and reminders
- Notifications, only if you turn on reminders. Maintenance and renewal reminders are scheduled on your iPhone; no server is involved.
- Camera, only when you choose Take a photo on a service record or a machine. The photo is saved in IronLog on your iPhone and is not uploaded.
- Photos and files. IronLog uses Apple's photo and file pickers, which hand the app only the items you choose. IronLog does not get access to your whole photo library.
- IronLog does not use your location, contacts or microphone. The location field on a service record is text you type.
6. This website
This site sets no cookies and runs no analytics, advertising or tracking scripts. Its fonts are served from this site. The site is hosted on Cloudflare, which processes your IP address and request details to deliver pages and to protect the site from abuse (including limiting how often the contact form can be used), and keeps short-lived request logs. Links to the App Store take you to Apple.
7. What we do not do
- We do not sell or share personal information, including as those terms are defined in California law.
- We do not show ads or use your information for advertising.
- We do not track you across other companies' apps or websites.
- We do not build profiles about you.
8. Children
IronLog is not directed at children under 13, and we do not knowingly collect personal information from them. If you believe a child has sent us personal information, contact us and we will delete it.
9. Your choices and rights
- Delete records in the app by deleting a machine, or delete everything by deleting the app. See deleting your data.
- Ask us for a copy of, a correction to, or deletion of the feedback you have sent, through the contact form. Use the same email address you used before, if any, so we can find your messages.
Depending on where you live (for example in the European Economic Area, the United Kingdom or California), you may have legal rights to access, correct, delete or object to the processing of your personal information. We honour these requests wherever you live. Where the GDPR applies, we process crash reports and feedback on the basis of our legitimate interest in keeping the app working and in answering people who contact us. Information may be processed in the United States and in other countries where our providers operate.
10. Security
Crash reports and feedback travel over encrypted connections. Records on your iPhone are protected by iOS data protection, which relies on your device passcode.
11. Changes to this policy
If this policy changes, we will update the effective date above and describe material changes on this page before they take effect.
12. Contact
Questions or requests: use the contact form on our support page, or Send Feedback in the app.
